2010 mercedes-benz c-class review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. A true mercedes in a smaller size. introductionthe mercedes-benz c-class is the most compact and least expensive of the brand's sedan offerings. Yet it's no less a mercedes-benz. For drivers who want something sportier, the sport models provide that. Those want a street-legal racecar can order an amg version.  the c-class is a terrific driving experience; great driver feedback through the steering, rock-solid, and so stable it's very difficult to get into trouble, and delivering to the driver a superb grasp, both literally and figuratively, on what the car is doing. The c350 comes with a 268-hp 3. 5-liter v6. The racy c63 amg features a 451-hp 6. 2-liter v8.  compared with luxury models, sport versions use wider rear tires and wheels, sit more than half an inch lower, use firmer suspension settings, and get a three-spoke steering wheel. Sport sedans use a different grille with the mercedes-benz ringed star in it as opposed to the luxury with the star on the hood, and sport models use amg-style deeper front air dams, side skirts and rear aprons. Amg version are distinguished by unique styling cues.  the c-class is not a big car, so tall drivers and business-people who routinely transport clients may find they need something bigger, such as an e-class. Standard equipment includes a new monitoring system that shows individual tire pressures. The outside mirrors are more aerodynamic and the steering wheel is wrapped in premium leather. The c300 sport trim level also has new 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. A new option is a dynamic handling package for sport models that includes active damping suspension, faster, speed-sensitive steering, and 18-inch five-twin-spoke amg alloy wheels; on those with the automatic transmission, this package includes steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. In addition, for the first time on the c-class, the keyless-go system is now available, which gives push-button starting. All come with a 228-horsepower 3. 0-liter v6. The c300 sport comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, the others with a seven-speed automatic, which is also available on the sport 1,490).  the c300 sport comes with dual-zone climate control, synthetic upholstery, tilt/telescoping multifunction wheel, power windows/locks/heated mirrors, moonroof, eight-way power sport seats, front and rear fog lamps, cruise control, trip computer/maintenance minder, am/fm/weather/cd audio system with aux input, bluetooth, leather-wrapped wheel and shifter, alarm, central controller, five-inch flip-up color display, aluminum trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels.  the luxury c300 replaces the sport seats and aluminum trim with cushier seats and burl walnut trim. Automatic transmission comes standard on luxury, along with a heated washer reservoir.  the c300 sport 4matic adds all-wheel drive, automatic transmission and a heated washer reservoir.  options on the c300 include leather upholstery 1,590), burl walnut trim 320), metallic paint 720), teleaid 650), ipod integration 375), and panorama roof 1,070). The premium package i 2,300) includes sirius, heated front seats, auto-dimming mirrors, ugdo, rain-sensing wipers, power tilt/telescope and driver memory system. The premium package ii 3,700) includes premium i plus bi-xenon headlamps with heated washers and cornering lights, split-fold 60/40 rear seat, and power rear shade. Options include the premium ii package 1,400), metallic paint, leather upholstery, teleaid, six-cd changer, ipod integration, panorama roof, multimedia package and 18-inch wheels with wider rear tires than c300 sports.  the c63 amg 57,350) comes with a 6. 2-liter 451-horsepower v8, amg speedshift seven-speed transmission, 18-inch wheels and high-performance tires, and unique brakes, suspension, steering, sport seats with adjustable side bolsters, amg instrumentation and aluminum shift paddles behind the sport steering wheel. Cosmetically and mechanically it is a different car from the windshield forward. The c63 standard feature list is close to the c350 sport sedan. Options include metallic paint 720), leather package 3,030), premium ii 1,400), multimedia 2,650), ipod 375), carbon fiber trim 2,550) and the performance p30 package 4,050), with locking differential, composite brakes, leather/alcantara steering wheel, and 186-mph limiter.  safety equipment includes dual adaptive frontal airbags, front side thorax airbags, front side pelvic airbags (except on c63), side curtain airbags, active front head restraints, presafe system, electronic stability control and full traction and brake electronic assists. There are no optional safety systems. walkaroundthe c-class dimensions reflect its market segment; very similar to bmw's 3-series. This is more evident on sport c models with the star in the grille than it is on the luxury models with more chrome and the traditional hood ornament. Wheels play a big part too, the sport cars using twin-spoke wheels with some attitude while the luxury versions use finer, more elegant wheels.  closing the door brings a different sound than the old bank-vault benzes did, perhaps because the outer skin of the doors, hood, front fenders and trunk is aluminum. Most of the trim, all the way down to the mercedes-benz badges in the front floor mats, is low-glare so errant reflections don't distract or dazzle the driver, and assembly quality is first-rate.  front seats are electrically adjusted with heaters available and with the tilt/telescoping steering wheel (powered, with driver memory as standard on c350 and c63) provide good support and driving position; those of larger sizes may find the sport seat. 2013 bmw 1 series review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New car test drive. introductionone of the first entry-level luxury cars to hit the u. Market, the bmw 1 series is anything but bargain-basement. With a choice of three powerful six-cylinder engines and dimensions that rival earlier 3 series models, the 1 series are bona fide bmws, complete with precision driving dynamics, premium features and a pricey sticker.  the 2013 bmw 1 series is mostly unchanged over last year, but receives some additional standard features and retooled options. The high-performance 1 series m coupe is gone, replaced by another sporty variant: the 2013 bmw 135is, available in both coupe and convertible body styles. The 2013 bmw 135is is now the most powerful of the bunch, with unique exterior and interior trim.  in some ways, the 1 series is the spiritual successor to the sporty bmw 2002, produced 1968-76, and in some ways the 320i yuppy-mobile that followed. They're available with 6-speed manual or 6-speed steptronic automatic. Bmw says the 128i can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 7. 0 seconds with the automatic, 6. 4 seconds with the manual. Fuel economy for the 2013 bmw 128i coupe is 18/28 mpg city/highway with either transmission; the 2013 bmw 128i convertible achieves 18/27 mpg city/highway with the automatic and 19/28 mpg with the manual.  the bmw 135i features a twin-scroll turbocharged 3. 0-liter inline-6, good for 300 hp and 300 lb.-ft. The bmw 135i coupe and convertible are available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, which does not require manual shifting from the driver. A bmw 135i can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5. 4 seconds with the manual gearbox, 5. 3 seconds with the 7-speed dct. Fuel economy from the bmw 135i coupe is 20/28 mpg city/highway with the manual and 18/25 mpg with the dct. Convertibles earn 19/28 mpg city/highway with the manual and 18/25 mpg with the dct.  the 2013 bmw 135is uses a more powerful version of the 135i's turbocharged inline-6, which pumps out 320 hp and 317 lb.-ft. Of torque, and a choice of 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The 135is also gets a sport-tuned suspension, additional cooling systems, and a sport exhaust that gives the 135is a throatier growl than the other 1 series models. On the outside, it's differentiated by a high-gloss black kidney grill, black mirror caps, m sport trim and unique 18-inch wheels.  a bmw 1 series convertible can drop its top in just 22 seconds. Top-down motoring is one of life's great joys, so this is a great feature.  the bmw 1 series cars are comfortable, sporty and agile, true driver's cars, with the feel of rear-wheel drive. We found the bmw 128i convertible a delight to drive and it has enough power. More fun to drive is a bmw 135i coupe. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes standard; a 6-speed steptronic automatic is optional (no charge).  the bmw 128i convertible 36,900) adds a power-folding soft top and a different wheel style, and does not have rear folding seats.  the bmw 135i coupe 39,300) includes a firmer sport suspension and high-performance brakes, m sport aero body kit, adaptive xenon headlights with washers, sunroof and 18-inch wheels. A 6-speed manual is standard the 7-speed dct dual clutch automated manual transmission is optional 450).  the bmw 135i convertible 44,100) omits the coupe's body kit and folding seats (and hard top) and rides on 17-inch wheels.  the bmw 135is coupe 43,250) and convertible 47,950) get a more powerful version of the turbocharged inline-6, sport front seats, and unique exterior and interior trim. Cars equipped with the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission get steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.  options for 1 series include a premium package, which upgrades to genuine leather upholstery, additional ambient lighting, universal garage door opener, keyless entry, auto-dimming mirrors and satellite radio with one-year subscription. The cole weather package adds heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The technology package adds navigation with real-time traffic information, voice recognition, smartphone integration with bmw apps and the bmw assist crash notification service.  safety features on all 1 series include dual front airbags, seat-mounted front side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags (coupe only), abs, electronic stability control, traction control, cornering brake control, and launch control for getting started on slippery surfaces. The brake lights include a panic-braking mode that lights up the entire lens extra bright whenever the brake pedal is stomped hard. walkaroundthe bmw 1 series is short in the rear compared to the larger 3 series, but it looks good that way. It doesn't look cheap or cut off or bandaged. Every major part of the car, the nose, the bodyside, the roof and the rear end, blends with the rest of the car to make a shorter, narrower version of the 3 series with a different and special roofline. Some would argue, however, that the slab-like sides are bland compared to other, more sculpted bmws.  we like the 135i's aerodynamics package with the huge air intakes below the bumper, necessary for cooling the turbocharger intake air. At the rear, the 135i has a prominent spoiler, while the 128i uses a more gentle lip integrated into the trunk lid. The 128i rear bumper is entirely body-color, lacking the black-out panel seen on the 135i. Drag coefficient on the 128i coupe is 0. 31 cd vs. The 135i coupe's 0. 33 cd.  put the top down on the convertible models, and the flared shoulder line that's shared with the coupes seems to form a single surface that surrounds the interior, like the deck of a small boat. Just about everything inside is in the same location and looks and operates the same way.  we found the front bucket seats to be very comfortable and supportive, with big side bolsters. It includes a central control knob with a separate menu button, while other version add cd, tel, radio, nav, back and option buttons around the controller. Those extra buttons provide easier access various functions, eliminating a few steps. Both versions require some time to learn, but the system in the 1 series is a little more daunting. Having tried idrive numerous times, we're used to it and not entirely annoyed, but many drivers find it overly complicated.  all 1 series coupes come with a 60/40 split folding rear seat than can almost triple the trunk's 10 cubic feet of space. A storage package for the trunk area includes some tie-downs and straps and a 12-volt power point for external accessories. The soft top takes up less trunk space than a convertible hard top would, which is partly why the design uses a soft top. Still, it eats up two cubic feet of cargo space, leaving 8 cubic feet, which is small but not too bad for a convertible.  the convertible's interior room suffers a bit, though hardly enough for a real convertible enthusiast to notice. Front leg room is reduced by a quarter inch, and head room by three-quarters of an inch. The losses in rear-seat room are more consequential, where shoulder room contracts by nearly a foot. Leg room is reduced by three-quarters of an inch, and head room by just 0. 1 inch. Coupe or convertible, the two-passenger rear seat is rather inhospitable. 2011 land rover range rover review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Range rover luxury on a smaller scale. introductionthe range rover sport fits between the land rover lr4 and the flagship range rover in the land rover lineup, bridging the gap from a price standpoint. The sport is the shortest of the three, both in overall length and in height, and it's built on a shorter wheelbase. And it only seats five.  range rover sport was substantially revised for the 2010 model year with fresh styling, a new 5. 0-liter v8 and 6-speed automatic transmission, more luxurious interior, safety enhancements, additions to the terrain response system, and a new surround camera system designed to aid towing and driving off road.  the 2011 range rover sport lineup gets a new gt limited edition model in fuji white with special trim inside and out and added luxury features.  compared with the big range rover, the sport is seven inches shorter overall, on a wheelbase that's five inches shorter. It's a little narrower. And the roof is lower. Priced about $20,000 less, it's less luxurious inside and slightly less roomy. The sport and land rover lr4 share platforms, drive systems, suspension, and powertrain. The sport boasts more standard equipment, more upscale styling, and generally a more luxurious approach to the same mission: go anywhere, do anything, in any weather. The sport rides on a 108-inch wheelbase, five inches shorter than that of the lr4. So it may seem neither here nor there.  but the sport has been rolling in accolades. Most recently, it was a double winner at mudfest, a long-running annual competition for suvs, put on by the northwest automotive press association. Meanwhile, the land rover lr4, the range rover sport's fraternal twin, won off-road suv of the year.  it's powered by the same engine as the range rover and lr4, a compact new 32-valve v8 made by jaguar that's gotten rave reviews after its first year. It's the latest generation of eaton supercharger, a twin vortex, with dual intercoolers.  all models use a smooth and quick-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission that was new for 2010, with normal, sport and manual modes. Heated front seats are not standard. For wood trim, there's a choice of walnut, anigre 350), or black laquer 350). The luxury package 4,700) adds features from the supercharged, including adaptive front lighting, auto high-beam assist, center cooler box, and premium leather seats with electronically adjustable drivers seat side bolsters, and 20-inch wheels.  options include an audio upgrade to the 480-watt harman/kardon system with 13 speakers 1,650); satellite and hd digital radio 750); and an electronic rear differential lock 500). The climate comfort package 1,500) adds heated front and rear seats, windshield, washer jets and steering wheel. The rear seat entertainment system 2,500) includes two wireless headphones and remote. Vision assist 1,200) includes five surround cameras, automatic high beam assist and adaptive front lighting system.  the gt limited edition comes in fuji white, and has unique bumpers, mesh on the side vents, 20-inch wheels, a liftgate spoiler, and quadrangle exhaust tips. Inside, there's alcantara leather and anigre wood trim, a climate comfort package, and premium sound system, the 480-watt 14-speaker harman/kardon.  the supercharged adds the new generation eaton supercharger that pumps up the horsepower of the jaguar v8 to 510, with 461 foot-pounds of torque. It's a clean, integrated, and aerodynamically efficient package.  the range rover sport is visibly smaller than the range rover, which fits for these times. The overhangs are slightly shorter, raising its offroad capability by increasing the angle of obstacles it can climb or cross, without nudging the front or rear bumpers. The wheelbase is 5 inches less than the range rover, which adds nimbleness to the handling but doesn't much affect the ride quality, the suspension is so good anyhow. And its 7 inches less overall length makes parking easier.  the lines are iconic; everyone recognizes a range rover, like everyone recognizes a porsche. It's basically a big box, but british designers somehow have made it look sleek. It seems most range rovers are a titanium color (called stornoway grey, after a village in the outer hebrides of scotland, grey for the weather), which adds to the sleek effect. But we'd love to see a british racing green range rover sport. Supercharged. interiorin 2010, the dashboard, instrument panel, door panels and seats were all redesigned and upgraded, and every gauge and switch was made more tidy and user-friendly. There are fewer switches overall, since many of their functions have been transferred to the 5-inch touch screen at the top center of the instrument panel. It's called tft, for thin film transistor. The center stack is easy to read and use.  range rover sport boasts a long list of standard equipment including pushbutton starting, a power tilt-and-telescope steering column, color driver information center between the main gauges, satellite navigation with voice recognition, ambient interior lighting with footwell and puddle lighting, and all of the usual power assists. However the harman/kardon sound system has been downgraded for 2011, from a 480-watt 14-speaker system to a 240-watt 9-speaker. The 480-watt system is optional now.  we're surprised that heated front seats are optional, and that a power liftgate is unavailable. It's a stretch and a tug to get the liftgate down. The steering wheel is big and thick, having controls for audio, telephone and cruise control, and the seats are very supportive and comfortable for the long haul, with careful high bolstering. In 2011, handsome contrasting stitching in the leather has been added, standard.  the optional surround camera system uses five cameras, two facing forward, one on either side of the truck facing down, and one at the rear to give a near-360-degree view of surroundings. Camera views can be selected from the main nav screen, and the view can be zoomed if necessary. This feature was developed to assist drivers in trailer hookups and trailer maneuvering, as well as for checking all-around clearances and terrain when driving off-road. 2005 mercedes-benz c-class review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The c-class delivers mercedes engineering and safety technology. Sport models are available for those who want a sportier driving experience. But we think the c-class is best represented by the c320 sedan, with its smooth, powerful v6 engine, responsive transmission and classic mercedes balance of ride quality and handling. Climb in and the c320 looks and feels like a mercedes-benz, featuring firm, supportive seats and mostly high-quality materials.  all c-class models feature redesigned interiors and freshened exterior styling for 2005. New paint technology imbeds microscopic ceramic flakes in the clear coat finish, increasing its resistance to chipping and degradation over time. Every model comes standard with a full-complement of airbags and an electronic stability program, the latter designed to prevent skidding in corners.  mercedes has also further distinguished the sport models from the standard luxury sedans for the 2005 model year. The sport models, which now account for more than half of c-class sales, come with a new six-speed manual transmission that greatly improves shift action. Nearly all the 2005 c-class cars are priced identically to the last 2004 models. In short, the c-class is more appealing for 2005. All come standard with rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel-drive is optional on two of the sedans and the wagon.  the least-expensive c-class models are the sport coupes, or two-door hatchbacks. The c320 coupe 29,250) comes with a 215-horsepower, 3. 2-liter v6 and amenity upgrades, including leather-faced seats and a ten-way power seat for the driver. For 2005, the coupes come with a redesigned six-speed manual transmission with greatly improved shift action. Standard equipment includes one-touch power windows, automatic climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels and high-performance tires. The c-class coupe's sporty ambience is enhanced by a three-spoke multifunction sport steering wheel with raised thumb-grips, leather-covered sport shift knob, rubber-studded aluminum pedals, body-colored door handles and aluminum door sills.  the most familiar c-class models are the sedans. Most popular among those is the c240 sedan 32,650), powered by a 168-horsepower 2. 6-liter v6 with three valves per cylinder and a standard five-speed touch shift automatic transmission with manual shift mode. C240 is well-equipped, with leather seat inserts, front seats with power height and backrest adjustment, power windows, cruise control, a seven-speaker audio system with weatherband, laurel-wood trim, and 16-inch aluminum wheels with all-season tires. The c320 sedan 37,950) upgrades to the 215-horsepower 3. 2-liter version of the v6 and a higher level of luxury amenities, including dual-zone automatic climate control, a bose 10-speaker stereo, reading lamps, 10-way power front seats with memory and a power-adjustable steering column.  the c240 wagon 34,150) is the identical counterpart to the c240 sedan. (the c320 wagon has been dropped for 2005). This fulltime system comes packaged with heated front seats and is priced much lower than it is with other mercedes models. We consider it a valuable asset in the rainy northwest or for the harsh winters of the midwest and northeast.  the c-class sport sedans have firmer suspensions, lower ride height and more powerful brakes than the standard models. The c230 kompressor sedan 29,250) is powered by the same supercharged inline-4 as the c230 coupe, while the c320 sport sedan 37,350) uses the 3. 2-liter v6. The sport sedans have the thick, three-spoke steering wheel and other sporty interior tweaks used in the c-class coupes, along with thickly bolstered front sport seats and aluminum interior trim. For 2005, the sport sedans come standard with the improved six-speed manual transmission and aggressive lower body cladding previously reserved for expensive amg models.  speaking of which, the c55 amg sedan is new for 2005. Powered by a hand-built 5. 5-liter 376-horsepower v8 (as opposed to the supercharged v6 that came in the 2004 c32), this is the hottest hot rod in the c-class family, traveling from 0-60 mph in an exotic-grade 4. 9 seconds. The c55's speedshift five-speed automatic, brakes and suspension are improved to match its prodigious horsepower. The changes are subtle and most people won't notice. But everyone will quickly identify any c-class as a mercedes-benz. The sedans share styling themes with the larger e-class and s-class cars, but retain a tight look all their own. Aerodynamically, they're among the best cars in the mercedes-benz family. The c-class sedans boast a drag coefficient of 0. 27, lowering wind noise and improving fuel efficiency.  for 2005, the sedans are trimmed with lower sills and more pronounced fender lips previously reserved for the sport sedans. The sport models, in turn, get still more aggressive lower cladding previously used only on the company's exotic amg models and a sportier air dam. Sport sedans are further distinguished by a unique grille with three horizontal bars and darker, blue-tinted glass. All c-class sedans get the traditional mercedes three-pointed star as a standup hood ornament, a symbol that it's owner wants the best.  the sport coupes feature a bar-grille with the mercedes badge embedded in the grille work rather than mounted above it. The coupes also have their own double-elliptical headlights, a swooping roofline and a shortened rear end with a functional spoiler that adds downforce on the rear tires. The coupe is seven inches shorter than the sedan, and all its body panels are different. These hatchback coupes are handsome and unique in the mercedes line around the world. The rear has its critics, though the extra pane of glass underneath the spoiler enhances rearward vision. Their long doors make getting in and out of the coupes easy.  the c-class sedan provides the foundation for an elegant wagon, and some consider the wagon the neatest of all c-class models. Its roof sweeps teardrop style into the rear gate, creating a sleek profile that minimizes the stodginess inherent in a station wagon's utilitarian design. The look makes the wagon's practical benefits even easier to embrace.  the c55 amg sedan is another beast altogether. Its body work from the windshield pillars forward was borrowed from mercedes' larger clk coupe in order to widen the front track and make room for a big v8 engine. The c55's rearview is dominated by a two pairs of chromed, oversize exhaust tips, and it's equipped with extra-wide 18-inch alloy wheels. interiormercedes focused its attention on improving the interior of the 2005 c-class models. The dashboard, instruments and seats have been redesigned, and materials have been revised throughout.    the c-class interiors continue to look like a mercedes-benz should, and for the most part, they feel that way, too. The firm, supportive seats are excellent: neither so hard that they numb the backside nor so soft that they leave occupants tired or aching. The seats in the standard luxury sedans are more traditional, perhaps richer in appearance, than those in the sport models. Adjustable lumbar support has been added for 2005, providing more comfort for the lower back. By comparison, the seats in the sport sedans look stark, but provide significantly more side bolstering for spirited driving.  seats in the sedans and c320 coupe come standard with lea. 2009 mercedes-benz c-class review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Mercedes dynamics and comfort in a small package. introductionthe 2009 mercedes-benz c-class brings multiple refinements. The 2009 c-class is composed of the c300 luxury, c300 luxury 4matic, c300 sport, c300 sport 4matic, c350 sport, and c63 amg.  the c-class was completely redesigned for 2008. The c-class has levels of driver feedback, the steering in particular, that it never had before; it has always been rock-solid and so stable it was hard to get in trouble, and it still is, but the driver now has far better grasp, literally and figuratively, on what the car is doing. And it does this without taking away any of the refinement or comfort that makes driving one a fatigue-free process.  the c-class is not a big car; taller than average families or business-people that routinely transport clients may find they still need an e-class. All save the c300 sport sedan come with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is available on any 300 with an automatic. lineupthe 2009 mercedes-benz c300 comes as a sport sedan 32,900), luxury sedan 34,650), 4matic all-wheel drive sport 36,200) and 4matic luxury 36,450). All come with a 228-hp 3-liter v6. The c300 sport comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, the others with a seven-speed automatic available on the sport 1460).  sport sedans use a different grille with the mercedes-benz ringed star in it as opposed to the luxury with the star on the hood, and sport cars use amg-style deeper front air dams, side skirts and rear aprons. All c300s come with 17-inch alloy wheels but sport cars use wider rear tires and wheels, sit more than half an inch lower, use firmer suspension settings and get a three-spoke steering wheel.  the c300 sport comes with dual-zone climate control, synthetic upholstery, tilt/telescoping multifunction wheel, power windows/locks/heated mirrors, moonroof, eight-way power sport seats, front and rear fog lamps, cruise control, trip computer/maintenance minder, am/fm/weather/cd audio system with aux input, bluetooth, leather-wrapped wheel and shifter, alarm, central controller, five-inch flip-up color display, and aluminum trim.  options on c300 sport include metallic paint 720), gray/black walnut trim 310), leather upholstery 1570), teleaid 650), 6cd changer 460), ipod integration 375), panorama roof 1050). Premium package 1 2150) includes sirius, heated front seats, auto-dimming mirrors, ugdo, rain-sensing wipers, power tilt/telescope and driver memory system, premium 2 3500) includes premium 1 plus bi-xenon headlamps with heated washers and cornering lights, split-fold 60/40 rear seat, power rear shade. The multimedia package 2980) includes comand navigation and seven-inch screen, 450-watt harman/kardon surround audio system, voice control, 6cd/mp3 changer.  c300 sport 4matic adds all-wheel drive, automatic transmission and a heated washer reservoir. Options mirror the rear-drive sport except for 18-inch wheels.  the luxury c300 replaces the sport seats and aluminum trim with cushier seats and burl walnut trim; the 4matic adds the same pieces as the sport 4matic. Options include the p2 package 1350), metallic paint, leather upholstery, teleaid, 6cd changer, ipod integration, panorama roof, multimedia package and 18-inch wheels with wider rear tires than c300 sports.  the c63 amg 56,300 plus required $2100 federal gas-guzzler tax) comes with a 6. 2-liter 451-hp v8, amg speedshift seven-speed transmission, 18-inch wheels and high-performance tires, and unique brakes, suspension, steering, sport seats with adjustable side bolsters, amg instrumentation and aluminum shift paddles behind the sport steering wheel. Cosmetically and mechanically it is a different car from the windshield forward. The c63 standard feature list is close to the c350 sport sedan. Options include metallic paint 720), premium leather 2980), p2 1100), multimedia 2980), ipod, carbon fiber trim 2500) and the performance p30 package 3990) locking differential, composite brakes, leather/alcantara steering wheel, 186-mph limiter.  safety equipment includes dual adaptive frontal airbags, front side thorax airbags, front side pelvic airbags (except on c63), side curtain airbags, active front head restraints, presafe system, electronic stability control and full traction and brake electronic assists. Apart from the v6 engines, transmissions and those three-pointed stars little was carried forward.  while larger than its predecessor its dimensions reflect the class; very similar to bmw's 3-series and just a couple of inches shorter and less wheelbase than audi's 2009 a4. This is more evident on sport c models with the star in the grille than it is on the luxury models with more chrome and the traditional hood ornament. Wheels play a big part too, the sport cars using twin-spoke wheels with some attitude while the luxury versions use finer more elegant wheels.  closing the door brings a different sound than the old bank vault benzes did, perhaps because the outer skin of the doors, hood, front fenders and trunk is aluminum.
